Jacques Lob (born August 19, 1932 in Paris , † May 24, 1990 in Château-Thierry ) was a French comic book author.

Life

At the beginning of his professional career Lob drew humorous comics for Hara-Kiri , Planète and other magazines until Jean-Michel Charlier , the editor-in-chief of Pilote , advised him in 1963 to work exclusively as a scenarioist . Praise wrote for Jean-Claude Mézières , Jijé , Philippe Druillet , Georges Pichard, and others. His collaboration with Marcel Gotlieb and Alexis , which resulted in the Superdupont series, was particularly successful .

Lob began drawing again in the mid-1970s and published stories in various comic magazines, including Métal Hurlant , l'Écho des Savanes, and Fluide Glacial . However, he continued to write scenarios for others, mostly for draftsmen hired by Pilote . The album Lob de la Jungle was created from these stories in 1982 . With Jean-Marc Rochette , he created La Transperceneige in 1982, a story about 20 people who want to escape a new ice age on a train. The comic, published in German translation in 2013 under the title Snow Cruiser by the publishing house Jacoby & Stuart , was filmed in 2013 by Bong Joon-ho under the title Snowpiercer , producer is Park Chan-wook . The film premiered in 2013.

Lob was editor-in-chief of the comic magazine Chic from 1984 , which was discontinued in 1985 after new editions.

He received the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême in 1986 .
