The publishing house Jacoby & Stuart was founded in spring 2008 by Edmund Jacoby , the former publisher of Gerstenberg Verlag , and Nicola Stuart with the participation of the French publishing group La Martinière in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . The publisher is a member of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels and the working group of youth book publishers .

Program and awards

The publishing program includes works of children's and young people's literature with sophisticated content and design , picture books (including pop-up books ), richly illustrated non-fiction books for children and adults, illustrated cookbooks , sophisticated graphic novels and gift books designed by well-known graphic artists .

The publisher works with internationally known illustrators such as Rotraut Susanne Berner , Axel Scheffler , Jutta Bauer , ATAK , Nadia Budde , Wolf Erlbruch , Volker Pfüller , Henning Wagenbreth , Blexbolex , Christoph Niemann , Robert Nippoldt , Benjamin Lacombe or Kitty Kahane . The publisher's authors include renowned writers such as Nava Semel , Micha Brumlik , Esther Kinsky , Ernst Peter Fischer , Jürg Schubiger , Robert Paul Weston and Richard Harland, as well as successful children's and young adult authors such as Wolfram Hänel , Kirsten John , Andrea Hensgen and Werner Färber . Numerous works by the Jacoby & Stuart publishing house have already been honored with significant prizes. The two cookbooks Im Reich der Schokolade and Das Jahreskochbuch, which appeared in the publisher's first program, received the Gourmand World Cookbook Award. Lienekes booklet of Holocaust survivors Nili Goren was awarded the lynx of the month literary prize (No. 266) in 2009. In the same year, Blexbolex ' people was recognized in the book art competition "Most beautiful books from all over the world" and was also nominated in 2009 for the German Youth Literature Prize in the picture book category. In cooperation with the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), the publisher published a comic in 2013 to popularize the study results of the WBGU's main report World in Transition - Social Contract for a Great Transformation . In 2019 the publisher received the German Publishing Award .
