ATAK

ATAK (* 10. August 1967 in Frankfurt (Oder) as Georg Barber ) is a German comic draftsman.

Life

After training as a type and graphic painter, ATAK founded the comic group and the comic magazine Renate in 1989 together with CX Huth , Peter Bauer and Holger Lau . From 1990 to 1995 he studied visual communication at the Berlin University of the Arts .

In 1999 ATAK presented solo exhibitions at the Schuster und Scheuermann gallery and in the Shining Laboratory in Berlin and took part in group exhibitions such as the much-noticed Mutanten - The German-language comic avant-garde of the 1990s in Düsseldorf .

In 2004 ATAK taught comics and illustration for one year at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences as part of a visiting professorship . The work that was published by Reprodukt in 2005 in the volume Klassenfahrt was created in a seminar held by the Design Department . ATAK and his brother Martin Barber created an animated video clip for the Berlin band Monoland .

In addition to the comic series Wondertüte are present on the seven issues, the band ATAK vs. Ahne or the booklet King Kong and NATO from the R-24 series, there are many other publications from ATAK, which have been published by Amok, Jochen Enterprises , Antje Kunstmann Verlag or Zyankrise , among others . ATAK has illustrated various prose texts, including FUP by Jim Dodge , Ada by Gertrude Stein and The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain , and has published numerous picture books for children and adults.

ATAK has held a professorship for illustration at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle (Saale) since the winter semester of 2008 . ATAK lives and works as a freelance artist in Berlin. His works have already been exhibited in Basel , Helsinki , Ljubljana , Paris , Rome , Stockholm and Zurich , among others .
