Gallery Schuster Berlin
The Schuster Gallery is a gallery founded in 1989 by Claudia and Helmut Schuster in Gelnhausen , Hesse , which represents and exhibits contemporary artists. In 2013 the gallery is based in Berlin and has branches in Potsdam and Miami .
History and program
From 1989 onwards, Schuster's first gallery rooms in Gelnhausen were in a former pharmacy in the historic old town. The second gallery station was in 1993 a high bunker in the center of Offenbach am Main . In 1994, the first foreign branch was opened in Paris , which for two years was located on Avenue George V not far from the Arc de Triomphe . This was followed by various gallery locations in Frankfurt am Main from 1995 . In 1997 the expansion took place with the Berlin partner Klaus Scheuermann to Berlin, where Schuster opened his own photo gallery in 2007, and finally the branches in Miami from 2008 and Potsdam in 2012.
The Schuster Gallery represented Cornelia Schleime , Moritz Götze and Strawalde , among others . With its program, Galerie u. a. at Art Cologne , Art Forum Berlin , Art Frankfurt and other art fairs in New York, Miami, London and Paris. The first years of gallery work had a clear focus on painting; From 2000 a focus on photography was added. The artists represented include Gudrun Kemsa and Bunny Yeager .
Projects
In 2010, Galerie Schuster started the Berlin for Haiti campaign in cooperation with the German consulate in Miami and the city of Miami . 100% of the money raised went to Doctors Without Borders and was used for disaster relief in Haiti. Artists, museums and art associations across Germany had previously donated works of art.
