Volker Pfüller
Volker Pfüller (born June 7, 1939 in Leipzig ; † October 23, 2020 in Rudolstadt ) was a German graphic artist , set designer and university teacher .
Life
After studying at the Berlin-Schöneweide University of Applied Arts from 1958 to 1960, Volker Pfüller studied graphics until 1965 at the Berlin University of Applied Arts with Werner Klemke and Arno Mohr . From 1976 he held a teaching position there. From then on he worked as a freelancer in Berlin and most recently in Rudolstadt in Thuringia.
In 1990, Volker Pfüller became visiting professor for illustration at the Kassel Art Academy and in 1991 professor for stage design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art. From 1997 to 2005 he took on the class for illustration at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig .
His work includes work as a set designer at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Münchner Kammerspiele , the Volksbühne Berlin and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg ; his graphic work, drafts of drawings and book illustrations.
His posters have received several awards in the context of the 100 best posters of the year award, and his illustrations are among the most beautiful books in the GDR . Since the 8th art exhibition in 1977, works by Volker Pfüller have been on display at the GDR art exhibition in Dresden . Pfüller died in Rudolstadt in October 2020 at the age of 81.
