Métal hurlant
Métal Hurlant was an authoritative French comic magazine, published 1975–1987 and 2002–2006 by Les Humanoïdes Associés , and of which there were international sister publications, including in Germany. The name, literally "screeching metal", is the French translation of " heavy metal ". The magazine was particularly influential for science fiction films of the 1970s and 1980s.

Métal Hurlant was published for the first time in January 1975 and was quite modest with 68 pages, 16 of them in color, and quarterly edition, but soon became a sensation on the graphic narrative market because of its idiosyncratic style. Since the tenth issue in October 1976, the magazine has appeared monthly. In Germany it was known under the name Schwermetall , in England and the USA under Heavy Metal , in Spain and the Netherlands in the respective national language. The artists Jean Giraud (Moebius) and Philippe Druillet , who were among the founders, Enki Bilal , Philippe Caza , and the US comic artist Richard Corben gained worldwide fame.
