Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri
Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri (born February 29, 1944 in Venice ) is an Italian comic artist .
Career
He has lived in Rome since a young age , where he studied painting and architecture . As a painter, Eleuteri Serpieri became a student of Renato Guttuso , whom he still reveres as a master today. Today he teaches at the Istituto d'Arte della capitale . In 1966 Eleuteri Serpieri began a career as a painter, which was accompanied by good reviews.
Together with Raffaele Ambrosio, Eleuteri Serpieri entered the world of comics in 1975 by drawing some stories about the history of the Wild West for the magazines " Lancio Story " and Scorpio . As a big fan of the Western genre , he worked from 1980 on the Larousse collection “Histoire du Far West” . He was also one of several artists in the Larousse series "Découvrir la Bible" (Eng: "Discover the Bible"). He also drew short stories for magazines such as L'Eternauta , Il Fumetto and Orient-Express .
In 1985 Eleuteri Serpieri opened a new chapter of his work with the creation of the lush, lustful, freedom-loving, erotic cartoon character Druuna , who experiences erotic and painful adventures in a depraved, bizarre science fiction world. Starting with the band Morbus Gravis (serious illness), he created eight albums that were sold over a million times in twelve languages. He himself also appears in the adventures with his alter ego "Doc".
Eleutieri Serpieri named the cartoonists Enki Bilal and Philippe Druillet as artistic friends .
