Suriya
Suriya (* 23. July 1975 in Coimbatore , Tamil Nadu , as Saravanan Sivakumar ) is a Tamil actor, producer and presenter. He appears mostly in Tamil films .
Life
Suriya was born as the eldest son of the actor Sivakumar . He attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School and St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Loyola College in Chennai. After graduating, he worked in the clothing industry for a few months. As early as 1995 he was offered a leading role in the film Aasai , but he turned it down. In 1997 he made his debut in the film Nerrukku Ner in the Vasanth film was directed and by Mani Ratnam was produced. He also got his stage name from Ratnam to avoid confusion with the actor Saravanan . Ratnam suggested the name Suriya because it was the name of many male leading roles in Ratnam's films.
family
Suriya's younger brother, Karthi, is also an actor and has a sister. He is married to the film actress Jyothika , with whom he also made several films. The couple married on September 11, 2006 and have a daughter and a son.
