Survival is a song by English alternative rock - band Muse and the official song of the 2012 Summer Olympics . It is also the first single from their sixth studio album, The 2nd Law .

history

The song was featured on BBC Radio 1 on June 27, 2012 . In 2011, Matthew Bellamy was asked for the composition. He felt honored and said, "It's a huge honor to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games." The song was played both at the medal ceremonies and at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics .

A large choir of women and men sang different parts for the background of the soundscape.

The song reached number 22 in the UK charts and number 87 in Germany.
