Surya P. Subedi

Surya P. Subedi (* 1957 ) is a Nepalese professor of international law at the University of Leeds and an established lawyer in Great Britain .

Life

Subedi holds a Ph. D. from the University of Oxford , Masters of Laws from the University of Hull and Tribhuvan University . In 1981 he was admitted to the bar in Nepal. He worked as an Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Justice of Nepal and as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1999 he became Professor of International Law at the University of Hull and in 2004 at the University of Leeds . Between 1998 and 2006, Surya Subedi was the chief editor of the Asian Yearbook of International Law . In March 2008 Subedi was appointed rapporteur on the human rights situation in Cambodia .

Awards

In 1998, Subedi was awarded the Order of Suprabal Gorkha Daxinbahu by the Nepalese King Birendra . and in 2004 appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire by the British Queen . He has also received the Dasturzada Pavry Memorial Prize from Oxford University and the Josephine Onoh Memorial Prize from Hull University.
