Susan Kouguell

Susan Kouguell is an American screenwriter and director.

Kouguell worked as a story analyst and editor and acquisition consultant for Warner Bros. , Republic Pictures , Viacom , Punch Productions and Paramount Pictures and wrote voice-over texts for Miramax . As the head of the film consulting firm Su-City Pictures East, LLC , founded in 1990 , she works with more than a thousand screenwriters, filmmakers, producers and film studios worldwide.

Since 2000 she has been teaching film and screenwriting at Tufts University and giving international workshops a. a. at the Prague Film School. She has published several scriptwriting books and writes a monthly column for NewEnglandFilm.com . She wrote the text for the choral work Praisemaker for the composer Alvin Singleton . Kouguell made six short films that were included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennale . She has received awards and grants from the MacDowell Colony , the Jerome Foundation , the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Edward Albee Foundation .
