Susanne Lepsius (legal historian)

Susanne Lepsius (* 1969 as Susanne Degenring in Mannheim ) is a German legal historian and professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

From 1988 Susanne Lepsius studied history and law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . She completed the Legal History Program at the University of Chicago , where she graduated in 1993 with a degree in history. In 1996 and 2001, respectively, she passed her two state law exams in Heidelberg and Munich. In 2000 she did her doctorate and in 2006 she completed her habilitation in German and European legal history, civil law and church legal history at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 2009 she had the opportunity to accept professorships in Würzburg, Konstanz, Munich and at the Free University of Berlin , choosing the chair of learned law, German and European legal history and civil law at the Ludwig Maximilians University. Research into the work of Bartolus de Saxoferrato is a focus of her scientific work.

Susanne Lepsius is married to the legal scholar Oliver Lepsius .

Awards

In 2001 Lepsius was awarded the Walter Kolb Memorial Prize of the City of Frankfurt. In 2007 she received the Heisenberg Prize and a grant from the DFG .
