Sushun

Sushun ( Japanese 崇 峻 天皇 , Sushun-tennō ; † December 11, 592 ) was the 32nd Tennō of Japan (587-592). He was the twelfth son of Emperor Kimmei . His mother was a daughter of the politician Soga no Iname .

After his brother Emperor Yōmei died, he ascended the throne with the help of his mother's Soga clan . He was a Buddhist . He was murdered in 592 by his courtman Yamato no Ayano Atai Koma at the behest of Soga no Umako , a powerful nobleman. Sushun was the only Japanese emperor who is known for certain to have been assassinated. He is also the only emperor without a traditional grave.
