Susiana

Susiana ( Greek  Σουσιανή ) referred to a part of Persia in ancient times. The Susiana was in the 3rd millennium BC. Central region of the kingdom of Elam . In the Achaemenid Empire , Susiana was a satrapy . In later times the area was identified more often with Elymais . To what extent Susiana and Elymais match, overlap or the Susiana is a part of Elymais cannot be said due to the changing boundaries and unclear provisions in the sources.

The most important city in Susiana was Susa .

The area roughly corresponds to the flat part of Khuzestan in today's Iran .
