Sutur-Nahhunte

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Šutur-Nahhunte (Schutur-Nahhunte) was an Elamite king who lived sometime between 647 BC. BC and 539 BC Ruled.

The story of Elam after the Assyrians sacked Susa in 647 BC BC is largely in the dark. For a long time it was assumed that Elam became an Assyrian province and then a province of the New Babylonian Empire and lost its independence forever. However, some text finds suggest that during this period, before the arrival of the Persians, some rulers can be dated who ruled independently in Elam, who built temples and even waged campaigns.

Šutur-Nahhunte is one of these rulers. He is known from a seal that belonged to a certain Huban-kitin and describes Šutur-Nahhunte as his father. There are also two stone horns with his name, which come from Susa and which, according to the inscriptions, decorated the temple of the Pinikir .
