The Sven Hedin Glacier ( English Sven Hedin Glacier ) is a Canadian glacier north of Princess Marie Bay on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut in northern Canada .
etymology
The Sven Hedin Glacier was named after the Swedish geographer Sven Hedin . The Princess Marie Bay is named after Marie Amelie von Baden , the youngest daughter of Karl Ludwig Friedrich of Baden . Marie Amelie von Baden was married to William Alexander Anthony Douglas-Hamilton .
Research history
The Sven Hedin Glacier was explored by Oxford University Ellesmere Land Expedition from 1934 to 1935 . According to their research in 1935, the glacier was enlarging at that time.
