The Svennerøyane are a small group of islands and cliffs off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . In the southeastern part of Prydz Bay they are 22.5 km southwest of the Rauer Islands .
The Norwegian captain Klarius Mikkelsen (* 1887) discovered them in February 1935 during his voyage with the whaling ship Thorshavn on behalf of the whaling entrepreneur Lars Christensen . It is named after a corresponding archipelago off Sandefjord in southern Norway. Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 .
