The State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice ( Štátna filharmónia Košice (ŠfK) ) is the second philharmonic orchestra in Slovakia alongside the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava . It is located in the east of Slovakia, in Košice .

history

The orchestra was founded in 1968 and gave its first concert soon after. Apart from its concert activity, it is known for the recording of musical rarities. However, it has also developed and published large series of works by the Strauss family .

Festivals

The orchestra regularly takes part in three annual festivals: the Košice Musical Spring ( Košická hudobná jar ), the Organ Festival ( Medzinárodný organový festival ) and, since 2003, the Festival of Contemporary Art ( Festival súčasného umenia ).
