Christian Pollack

Christian Pollack (born November 27, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian conductor and university professor.

Christian Pollack studied violin , viola , piano and composition at the Vienna Conservatory and the Vienna University of Music . He trained as a conductor with Hans Swarowsky in Vienna and Sergiu Celibidache in Munich .

Pollack's debut was at the Regensburg Theater in 1971 , followed by engagements in Aachen , Klagenfurt , Vienna , Lucerne and at the Bregenz Festival . He was a guest conductor with the Baden-Baden Radio Orchestra as well as in the opera houses of Nuremberg , Essen and the Vienna Chamber Opera and Volksoper .

Since 1995 Pollack has been the musical director of the opera class at the Vienna Conservatory, and since September 2002 the first guest conductor of the Žilina Chamber Orchestra in Slovakia.

He has made a number of recordings of classical Viennese music for several CD companies, especially works by the Strauss family , as well as by Ziehrer and Suppé . He used the orchestras from Košice , Bratislava and Žilina for this purpose.
