The Swift S-1 is a single-seat Polish glider in fiber composite construction, which is designed for aerobatics . Type Certificate No. 397 was issued on September 26, 2003.

development

It was designed as the successor to the SZD-21-2B Kobuz 3 , which was banned from aerobatics due to a broken wing at the 1989 World Cup. For this reason, a contemporary successor model had to be created, which, however, should retain the tried and tested design of the Kobuz. The negative form of the wing was simply removed from a carefully leveled and sanded Kobuz wing to save time. Since the right wing of the Kobuz had a slight twist, the first Swifts had a clear tendency to roll to the left. To correct this, they were given a bracket edge on the aileron. After the 17th production aircraft was built, the shape was improved and the error corrected.

The Swift, like the double- seater glider MDM-1 Fox, was made by Zakład Remontów i Produkcji Sprzętu Lotniczego . Production of the Swift was discontinued after the 30th aircraft in order to concentrate the limited manufacturing capacities on the Fox. The set of molds has now been scrapped, so that a new production is no longer possible.
