The Swiss Bartenders Union (SBU) is since 1927 the official bartender - Association of Switzerland and used to be called Swiss Bartenders Union.

history

The SBU was founded in 1927 in the Hotel Simplon in Zurich . The association is a founding member of the IBA International Association , which was founded in 1951 in Torquay , England and to which the bartender guilds from over 60 countries are now affiliated.

The main tasks of the association are the promotion of bar culture and the next generation of bars in Switzerland as well as the annual organization of the official Swiss Cocktail Championships SCC Swiss Cocktail Championships . The two Swiss champions, the Swiss Cocktail Champion and the Swiss Flairtending Champion, are delegated to the WCC World Cocktail Championships every year by the SBU . In addition to the implementation of the SCC, the association is dedicated to the organization of other cocktail competitions and the organization of bar courses, workshops and events in the bar area. The SBU has around 350 individual members; female members have been admitted since 1974. The specialist magazine Drinks has been the SBU's partner magazine since 2011 .

Board

The Board of Directors consists of the Presidium, Vice-Presidium, Chair Education & Training, Chair German-speaking Switzerland, Chair Suisse Romande and Chair Svizzera Italiana. The electoral term is three years.
