Jibrail & Iblis is the first solo album by the Berlin rapper Samra . It was released on April 17, 2020 via the Bra Musik label by Capital Bra and is distributed by Universal Urban .

In 2019 Samra planned to release his album Marlboro Rot on September 13, 2019. In June, Samra and Capital Bra announced that their collaboration album Berlin Lives 2 should be released on October 4, 2019. Samra therefore postponed the release date of his album, now renamed Smoking kill , to February 28, 2020. Despite the great success of Berlin lives 2, which reached the top position in the album charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Samra withdrew public from October 4th and deactivated his Instagram account. In retrospect, Samra often indicated in his songs that personal problems were the reason for his abstinence. However, rumors spread around the time that Samra had become a drug addict. On December 5, the musician ended his artistic break and at the same time announced the single Colt , which was released on December 6, 2019. He also named a new release date for his upcoming album and renamed it Jibrail & Iblis .

Ten video singles were extracted from Jibrail & Iblis , namely Colt , 95 BPM , Zu Ende (with Elif ), Mon Ami , Weiss , Schüsse im Regen , 6 o'clock , Berlin (with Capital Bra ), BaeBae. and 365 days (with Capital Bra), including the last eight singles within three months. In addition, the video single 100k Cash (with Capital Bra) was released during the promo phase at the end of February, but it did not make it onto the album.

The album was mainly produced by the producers Beatzarre , Djorkaeff , Greckoe and Lukas Piano. In addition to the standard edition, it is also available as a box set . In addition to the main work, this includes the EP Anders by Capital Bra's alter ego Joker Bra, a sweater in Marlboro style and a poster .

Jibrail & Iblis reached number 1 in the album charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Music, lyrics and criticism

The songs on Jibrail & Iblis fall into the genres of hip-hop and rap . In contrast to the rap parts, the choruses are mostly pop-heavy and contain some auto-tune in some places .

It has been criticized that the lyrics, beats, and vocal and rap styles of many songs have similarities. The album was often about cigarettes , the burning of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class , drugs , love affairs and typical German rap topics such as expensive luxury goods and women. The number of 22 songs was also criticized, especially the tiredness of singles.

Jibrail & Iblis reached the top position in the album charts in Germany and stayed there for a week. With the album Samra reached the German album charts for the second time and topped the charts for the second time.
