Swiss Cottage (Jubilee Line)
Swiss Cottage is a London Underground station in the London Borough of Camden . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2, at the intersection of Finchley Road and Avenue Road. The station served by the Jubilee Line was used by 7.28 million passengers in 2014. It should not be confused with the closed station of the same name on the Metropolitan Line .
The station opened on November 20, 1939. After an additional, parallel tunnel had been built, subway operations on the Stanmore branch were transferred from the Metropolitan Line to the Bakerloo Line in order to relieve the strain and speed it up at the same time to be able to. The station of the Metropolitan Line, a little further to the west, to which there was an underground passage, remained in operation for the time being, but has also been closed since August 17, 1940. On May 1, 1979, operations were transferred from the Bakerloo Line to the newly opened Jubilee Line.
