The Swisscanto foundations , based in Basel, consist of three foundations: the Swisscanto collective foundation, the Swisscanto Supra collective foundation and the Swisscanto vested benefits foundation. The three foundations offer products and services in the 2nd pillar (occupational pension provision).

Areas of activity

The offer of the Swisscanto collective foundations is aimed at companies which, due to their size, for administrative reasons or because of the high complexity of the topic, cannot or do not want to set up and operate their own pension fund. The Swisscanto Collective Foundation and the Swisscanto Supra Collective Foundation are so-called semi-autonomous foundations: This means that they reinsure the risks of death and disability with Helvetia Insurance , but autonomously determine the investment of savings. The management is carried out by Helvetia Insurance. As pension institutions, both foundations cover the needs of the employees of their affiliated companies under the 2nd pillar. The Swisscanto Collective Foundation primarily offers solutions in the mandatory area - the basic pension, while the Swisscanto Supra Collective Foundation offers supplementary, extra-mandatory solutions in the cadre pension scheme. In the Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation, people who leave a pension fund and do not start a new job can transfer their retirement assets to a vested benefits account.

history

In 1973 the Swisscanto Collective Foundation was established by the then Patria Lebensversicherungsgesellschaft (today Helvetia Insurance ) and the Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks (VSKB). This was intended to give the corporate customers of the cantonal banks the opportunity to build up pension protection for their employees through a pension fund solution. With the BVG coming into force in 1985 - which made a pension fund solution compulsory for all companies in Switzerland - the Supra Collective Foundation was set up in order to be able to offer products in the compulsory and non-compulsory areas. The entry into force of the Freedom of Movement Act finally led to the establishment of the Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation in 1996. This gave the cantonal banks the opportunity to transfer the management of their vested benefits accounts to the Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation.

Legal bases

The legal basis is formed by the Federal Act on Occupational Old-Age, Survivors 'and Disability Pension Plans , the Federal Act on Freedom of Movement in Occupational Old-Age, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans and the associated ordinances. The basis for joining a collective foundation is the affiliation contract and its integral parts (foundation deed, organization, cost and election regulations). A vested benefits account is opened with a corresponding application. The relevant regulations regulate the relationships between the foundations and the insured persons. the account holders.

organization

The highest body in all three foundations is the respective foundation council. The Board of Trustees of the Swisscanto Collective Foundation, which as a registered BVG foundation covers the mandatory part of the occupational pension scheme, is composed equally of employee and employer representatives from the affiliated companies. In the Swisscanto Collective Foundation and Swisscanto Supra, the pension committees of the affiliated companies form the link between the foundations, the companies and the insured persons. The administrative matters of the Swisscanto Foundations are taken care of by the office in Basel. The Swisscanto Foundations operate distribution centers in Basel, Zurich and Neuchâtel. The products and services of the Swisscanto Foundations are sold by the cantonal banks and brokers.
