Swithred

Swithred was king of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Essex from about 746 until his death .

Swithred's father was called Sigemund, his mother's name is unknown. He was a great-grandson of King Sebbi (664–694). He followed Saelred around the year 746 and is said to have been a weak king. The date of his death is unknown. Successor was Sigeric I.
