Sylvinite

Sylvinite (also sylvinohalite ) is a potash rock , which mainly consists of the mineral sylvin (KCl) with small amounts of halite (NaCl).

etymology

Sylvinit was named after the doctor Franciscus Sylvius .

properties

Sylvinite is very hygroscopic , often has a red color and usually occurs together with kieserite , anhydrite and rock salt.
