In 2004, Symetra Financial Corporation was established as an independent company that was founded by a group of investors around the White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. was bought.
Since 2010, the company's shares have been traded on the New York Stock Exchange . Today Symetra is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Life Insurance .
