The synagogue in Brisbane , the capital of the Australian state of Queensland , was built in 1885/86. The synagogue at 98 Margaret Street has been a listed building since 1992 .

The synagogue in the style of historicism , a mixture of Gothic and Byzantine style elements, was built according to plans by the architect Arthur Morry . The inauguration took place on July 18, 1886. The brick building has 400 places for men and 260 places in the women's galleries .

There is a rose window above the large arched portal on the street side , which is flanked by two narrow towers. The building ends with a triangular gable between the two towers.
