Former synagogue in Sabile

The synagogue in Sabile (German Zabeln ), a city in western Latvia , was built in 1890. The derelict synagogue in neo -baroque style was devastated inside during the Second World War .

With the attack on the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, the entire territory of Latvia came under the control of National Socialist Germany until July 8, 1941. This began the annihilation of almost all of the local Jewish population.

The former synagogue was renovated from 2001 to 2004 and is now used for cultural events.
