Synagogue (Geldern)
The synagogue in Geldern , a town in the Kleve district in the northwest of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1874/75. The synagogue was on the north wall. The Jewish school, which has existed since 1850, was housed in an extension.
During the November pogrom in 1938 , SA men gained access to the synagogue and set fire. The building burned down to the surrounding walls. The ruin was removed after 1945.
On November 15, 2011, a stumbling block by the artist Gunter Demnig was laid on Nordwall 39 for the synagogue.
