The synagogue in Hluboká nad Vltavou (German Frauenberg ), a town in Jihočeský kraj (South Bohemian Region) in the Czech Republic , was built in 1907.

history

Jews settled in the village in the second half of the 17th century . The Jewish community experienced its heyday in the 19th century when it had a membership of 112 people in 1880, which corresponds to around 5% of the population.

Although the Jewish community only had 48 members in 1900, it built a new synagogue in 1907 to replace an older building. Although the entire interior was badly damaged or destroyed during the German occupation, the services took place until 1945. After the Second World War, the rooms were used by the Czechoslovak Hussite Church .

The building in the historicizing style has arched windows and on the long side a portal with a triangular gable that rests on pillars . Acroteria in the form of pyramids sit on the sloping roof slopes .

The synagogue is now used as a residential building.
