With the arrival of Jewish families from the rural area, e.g. B. from Dürrmaul , Königswart , Pauten , a Jewish community was founded in the mid-1870s . There was also a large group of Jewish spa guests who regularly stayed in Marienbad.

The Jewish community had a representative synagogue built in neo-Byzantine style according to plans by the builder Eduard Stern . The construction was financed by donations from spa guests and members of the Jewish community.
