System base chip
A system base chip (SBC) is an IC in which several functions necessary for the implementation of an electronic assembly are combined. These functional groups can be:
- Voltage regulator
- Voltage monitoring
- Reset generator
- (Window) watchdog
- Bus interface ( CAN bus , LIN bus etc.)
- Wake-up logic
- Performance drivers
The performance range of these ICs is very different: There are relatively complex assemblies that can even be configured (e.g. via SPI ), but also simpler ones that have hardwired functionality.
Areas of application
SBCs are e.g. B. used in many automotive control units.
