Sytek Inc. (later Hughes LAN Systems, Inc. ) was an American software company from Mountain View , California .

history

In 1984 Sytek developed the NetBIOS protocol, which Microsoft and IBM used as the basis for their own network software.

It is part of a cooperation agreement between "IBM Corp.", Novell Inc. and "Microsoft Corp.". On March 2, 1989, Hughes Aircraft & Co. announced that Sytec would be acquired and incorporated as "Hughes LAN Systems Inc."
