Tölgyes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tölgyes [ ˈtølɟɛʃ ] (translated as "place with oak trees") is a part of the settlement of the Hungarian city of Mogyoród . The population is around 1500 people. The place is about 20 kilometers from Budapest in an easterly direction.

history

Before the settlement, the area was wildly overgrown wasteland with meadows and forests, later it was an agricultural part of an LPG based in Mogyoród . In the course of the 1960s and 1970s, permanent settlement and connection to a rail network took place.

Since around 2000 , upper-class houses have been built here within a fenced and guarded area. Before this time, Tölgyes was a garden arbor colony, which today still accounts for an approximately equal part of the settlement area compared to the new building area. Many Budapesters come here on weekends to take care of themselves and relax in their gardens. Similar to the dachas in the GDR and other Eastern Bloc countries , many have built their vacation homes here.

The nearby Hungaroring can be heard from afar during racing days.

traffic

There are traffic connections to Tölgyes via dirt roads from Mogyoród , a secret route from a nearby petrol station on the M3 motorway and a somewhat newer, regular access from the Budapest - Gödöllő expressway . In addition to the car connection, there is also the "Szentjakab" stop on both sides (until 2004 "Tölgyes") of the Budapest suburban railway HÉV , which runs between the Hungarian capital and Gödöllő. Until the new settlement was built and there were only gazebos, the stop was not a regular stop. You had to tell the driver to stop or wave from the platform.
