Túnel do Baptista Russo

The Túnel do Baptista Russo is a road tunnel on the border of the municipalities of Olivais and Marvila in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon .

In the tunnel, the access road Avenida Infante D. Henrique crosses the Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa without crossing . It took its name from the Rotunda do Baptista Russo, which was previously created at this point .

The construction of the tunnel was originally planned for the World Expo 98 , but was delayed by six years. Finally, construction work began in April 2004. On December 18, 2005, António Carmona Rodrigues , President of the Câmara Municipal of Lisbon, inaugurated the tunnel.

A passage about 355 meters long was built, of which 105.5 meters are tunnelled. The rest are access ramps. The construction costs amounted to 5,363,784 euros.
