Arsenal Helsinki

Arsenal is a sports club from the Finnish capital Helsinki, founded in 1935 .

The club had different departments throughout its history. The ice hockey department no longer exists today. In the 1948/49 season , however, the division still played in the first division. The soccer team also had its most successful period in the post-war years and at that time played in the second-highest league.

The most successful section of the club is the handball department . She played in the top division of Finland without interruption for 47 years. Arsenal became Finnish champions in 1961, 1962 and 1963. Arsenal were also five times runner-up and eight times third in the Finnish championship. As a Finnish champion, Arsenal also took part in the European Cup. In 1961/62 the club failed at the Soviet representative Burewestnik Kiev with 11:26, in the following season at the IK home from Sweden. The competition was canceled in 1963/64.
