Tōyō Tanso KK ( Japanese 東洋 炭素 株式会社 , Tōyō Tanso Kabushiki kaisha , dt. About: "East Asia carbon", English Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. ) is a Japanese graphite manufacturer.

The company's headquarters are in Osaka , Japan. The company also has branches in the USA , Italy , France , Germany , Taiwan , the People's Republic of China , South Korea and Thailand . The German headquarters are in Langgöns near Gießen.

The products include carbon brushes, isostatically pressed graphite as well as other graphites and carbon fiber composites .

history

In February 1941, the Kondō Carbon Kōgyōsho ( 近藤 カ ー ボ ン 工業 所 ) was founded for the production of carbon brushes . In July 1947, the founding of Kondō Carbon Kōgyō KK ( 近藤 カ ー ボ ン 工業 株式会社 , Engl. Kondo Carbon Manufacturing Co., Ltd. ) followed, which was renamed Tōyō Tanso KK in November 1949. The Osaka sales office was founded in October 1957, and a sales office in Tokyo in October 1960.

In February 1961 the construction of the Shikoku plant ( 四 国 工場 , Shikoku kōjō ) began, followed in March 1974 by the construction of the Ōnohara plant ( 大野 原 工場 , Ōnohara kōjō ). In May 1980 the Shikoku plant was spun off as Tōtankankō KK ( 東 炭 化工 株式会社 , English Totankanko Co., Ltd. ). In August 1981 the construction of the Hagiwara plant ( 萩 原 工場 , Hagiwara kōjō ) and in December 1985 the Takuma plant ( 詫 間 工場 , Takuma kōjō ).

The first production facility outside Japan was in 1987 in the USA, Oregon , as TT America Inc. established. Expansion into the European market followed in August with the establishment of Graphites Technologie et Industrie SA in Trappes , France. In April 1991 Graphite Technology Applications Srl was founded in Italy, and in May 1991 GTD Graphite Technologie GmbH in Germany.

The strong demand for specialty graphites from the electronics industry led the Tōyō-Tanso Group to purchase Seiko Tanso Co., Ltd. in November 1991 . in Taiwan and the establishment of Toyo Tanso USA, Inc. in the USA. In March 1994, the Ōnohara location was reorganized as the Ōnohara technical development center ( 大野 原 技術 開 発 セ ン タ ー , Ōnohara gijitsu kaihatsu sentā , Ohnohara Engineering & Development Center ) and the Shanghai Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. was founded in August . ( Chinese  上海 东洋 炭素 有限公司 ) in China. The Takuma location was reorganized in February 1995 as the Takuma branch ( 詫 間 事業 所 , Takuma jigyōsho , English Takuma Division ).

In January 1997, Tōyō Tanso took over Rognoni SpA in Italy, which has since operated as Toyo Tanso Europe SpA . In February 1998 there was a merger with Kondō Kōsan ( 近藤 興 産 ). In April 1999 the Iwaki plant was built ( い わ き 工場 , Iwaki kōjō ) and in September the Ōwada Carbon Kōgyō KK ( 大 和田 カ ー ボ ン 工業 株式会社 , Ohwada Carbon Industrial Co., Ltd. ) was purchased.

In April 2000, Shanghai Yongxin Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. ( Chinese  上海 永 信 东洋 炭素 有限公司 ) founded in China, in September 2003 Shanghai Toyo Tanso Industrial Co., Ltd. ( Chinese  上海 东洋 炭素 工业 有限公司 ). In April 2005, Jiaxiang Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. ( Chinese  嘉祥东 洋 炭素 有限公司 ) the expansion into the Chinese market further expanded. In March 2006, it was accepted into the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In September 2006, Toyo Tanso Korea Co., Ltd. was founded. in South Korea. In December 2007, the headquarters of the Tōyō-Tanso group was relocated to Kita-ku, Osaka. The Ōnohara Technical Development Center was renamed the Tōyō Tanso Technical Development Center ( 東洋 炭素 生産 技術 セ ン タ ー , Tōyō Tanso gijitsu kaihatsu sentā , English Toyo Tanso Technology Center ). In September 2008, Toyo Tanso (Thailand) Co., Ltd. founded in Thailand.
