TX program
The TX-program of the United States Air Force to the more than 50-year-old trainer aircraft Northrop T-38 replaced. 350 new training aircraft are planned, initial operating capability is to be achieved in 2024 and the program will cost 16.3 billion dollars in total . Applicants for the program include:
- The Boeing TX from Saab and Boeing (new development)
- The KAI T-50 from Korea Aerospace Industries and Lockheed Martin
- The Alenia Aermacchi M-346 from Leonardo SpA and Raytheon
Textron has withdrawn with their Scorpion .
On September 27, 2018, the US Air Force announced Boeing as the winner of the TX program.
