On 15 September 2001 it came on the domestic scheduled airlines TAM Linhas Aéreas Flight-9755 from airport Recife to São Paulo-Viracopos to a major incident on board a Fokker 100 . After an uncontrolled engine damage, engine parts were thrown around and penetrated the aircraft fuselage, which resulted in an explosive decompression in flight. In the incident, one passenger was killed and three other passengers were injured.

The aircraft concerned was an eight year and seven month old Fokker 100 with serial number 11443, which had been assembled at the Fokker plant in Schiphol and which had made its maiden flight on February 24, 2003. The machine received the Dutch aircraft registration PH-MXB for the test flight . On May 18, 1994 the machine was delivered to the TAM Linhas Aéreas . From September 1996 the machine was leased to the Paraguayan TAM - Transportes Aéreos del Mercosur , before it returned to the TAM Linhas Aéreas fleet in August 1998. The twin- engine, medium -haul narrow-body aircraft was equipped with two Rolls-Royce Tay 620-15 turbojet engines.

Passengers and crew

The flight from the airport Recife to São Paulo-Viracopos had begun 82 passengers. There was a six-man crew on board the machine, which consisted of a flight captain, a first officer and four flight attendants. At the time of the accident, the aircraft was being controlled by the flight captain Marcelo Seda.

The start of the aircraft at 6:27 p.m. from Recife Airport and the climb to cruising altitude initially proceeded without any special incidents. When overflying the state of Minas Gerais , near its capital Belo Horizonte , a sudden, uncontrolled engine damage occurred at a cruising altitude of 30,000 feet (approx. 9.144 meters). Airborne engine debris broke through the Fokker's cabin in several places. Three cabin windows were broken. A 48-year-old female passenger sitting in seat 19E was partially sucked out of the window, grabbing people sitting next to her and holding the woman who was half hanging out of the cabin window.

An emergency landing was carried out at Belo Horizonte-Confins Airport . After the emergency landing, only the death of the passenger who was partially sucked out of the plane could be determined. According to the responsible clinic, she died of head injuries. The airport remained closed for two hours after the emergency landing.

After the accident

The affected machine was repaired after the accident and put back into service. On December 10, 2003, the Fokker went with its former Dutch registration number to Fokker Services , which on October 8, 2004 changed it to the French aircraft registration number F- WSTG. On 13 December 2004, the machine was with the French license plate F-GSTg the DASA logged. On December 17, 2004, Iran Air finally took over the machine and approved it as EP-CFH . As of April 2020, the machine is not in operation and stored.
