The TC entertainment electronics AG (short TCU AG ) is a German company in the field of consumer electronics based in Koblenz . The core business is the development, production and marketing of additional television devices for the external control of audio and video devices. The company's share is traded in the General Standard and is included in the CDAX .

history

The company was founded on June 3, 1998 with headquarters in Koblenz to sell TV and media systems that can suppress TV advertising both on television and on video tapes. In October 2000, the company went public on the regulated market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange . The proceeds from the IPO were intended to finance an advertising campaign to market a TV ad blocker . The boxes called "TV fairy" were supposed to cost 399 euros each and would automatically switch to another program for commercials. In April 2013, TCU once again launched a live TV ad blocker with “Fernsehfee 2.0”, this time based on Android in the form of a satellite receiver . The RTL Television GmbH threw TCU because of the collaboration with an online provider recorder in 2018 copyright infringement before. As a result, TCU had to interrupt business operations in November 2018 due to a search of the business premises by the Koblenz public prosecutor .

criticism

In 2002, TCU were accused of various violations of stock corporation law. For example, no annual reports were submitted to the shareholders , the general meeting was not properly convened and at the general meeting a shareholder's own notes were snatched away. The board of directors publicly declared the "misinterpretation of the Stock Corporation Act ". In addition, the company was also accused of accounting errors. Claims for damages from legal proceedings that have not yet been decided are said to have already been capitalized in full in the balance sheet.

In 2006, auditors accused TCU of several inaccuracies or violations of the Commercial Code . For example, the general meeting for 2004 was not called in time and not all submission and disclosure obligations were met. Due to the omissions, the auditor's report for 2004 was refused. The board of directors denied the allegations or saw responsibility for them with the auditors.
