The Teka Group is a supplier of ovens, hobs, extractor hoods, refrigerators, dishwashers and other household appliances, as well as kitchen sinks made of stainless steel and other decorative materials. In addition, kitchen and bathroom fittings are produced in two plants in China and Hungary.

Teka was founded in Haiger (Hessen) in 1924 as Thielmann und Klein (TK). As a result of various company acquisitions and international expansion, the headquarters of the Teka Group is now in Madrid , from where the 15 factories and over 30 sales companies in Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East are controlled. The Teka Group has a leading position as a kitchen supplier in some markets (Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Thailand, UAE). The activities for catering (Küppersbusch Großküchentechnik) and for sanitary products for catering and public buildings are combined in two further business areas. Around 3600 employees work for Teka worldwide.

history

In 1924, Karl Thielmann, an expert in the manufacture of agricultural machines, laid the foundation for what would later become Teka and in 1936 acquired the rights to process stainless steel, which later resulted in the manufacture of household appliances and sinks from Teka. In 1952, Helmut Klein joined the company as a partner, and three years later they both founded the Teka brand, which got its name from the initials of both founders (TK). At that time, the company had specialized in the manufacture of sinks and had expanded its catalog to include hobs / plates, ovens and extractor hoods. Teka expanded worldwide at a very early stage and, due to the importance of this market for the company, relocated its headquarters to Santander (Spain) in 1964 and henceforth operated as Teka Industrial SA

In the seventies, under the management of Klaus Graf, the company began expanding out of Europe into the rest of the world and in the following decades reached five continents. In 2009, a further production facility was inaugurated in Weihai , China, so that with the fittings factory in Kaiping and the branch in Shanghai a significant presence in this important market was established. There are also subsidiaries in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. In Latin America, Teka has its own branches in Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Mexico. In 2012 Klaus Graf resigned as Chairman of Teka Industrial after 48 years at the helm of the company due to his advanced age and Maximilian Brönner succeeded him. As a result, the company restructured: a holding company (Heritage B) was founded in Switzerland, which acts as the umbrella organization for the two business activities Teka-Group and Thielmann. In Thielmann, the activities for containers (beer kegs, industrial containers) have been bundled, in the Teka Group those for kitchen and bathroom; Both groups are sister companies in the Heritage B.

Presence in Germany

The Teka Group has been present on the German market without interruption since it was founded in 1924. In 1999 the traditional company Küppersbusch AG in Gelsenkirchen was acquired, which today operates as Küppersbusch Hausgeräte GmbH and Küppersbusch Großküchentechnik GmbH. At the historic location in Gelsenkirchen, products for the catering and industrial kitchen are currently being manufactured. There you will find the Germany and Central Europe headquarters of the Teka Group. Previously, the former Teka Küchentechnik GmbH in Haiger was closed in 2012 and 190 jobs were cut. In the meantime (2013–2016) the Teka brand was marketed in Germany by a company outside the group, but reintegrated in 2017 and marketed today through the branch in Gelsenkirchen. The Teka brand serves middle market segments with household appliances, sinks and fittings, Küppersbusch rather the upper price range. The Teka and Küppersbusch brands are sold in Germany with their own sales force. Customer service and the guarantee are provided either by our own technicians (especially in metropolitan areas) or by partner companies.

Sports sponsorship

The Teka Group is a company with a sports sponsorship tradition. Racing Santander was the first Spanish soccer team with jersey advertising . Teka also became known worldwide through sponsoring Real Madrid for over eight years . During this time Real Madrid won two European Cups and the Intercontinental Cup.

Teka has been a sports sponsor for more than 30 years, including in handball with Teka Cantabria , in cycling with the Teka cycling team and with the Teka Suzuki motocross team. For several years Teka was also a sponsor of the World MX1 Motocross Championship. In 2010 Teka took part in the second edition of the Barcelona World Race as a yacht sponsor , as well as in the 2013 Dakar Rally . The group also appears as a sponsor in sports such as polo.

In 2016, a start was made to reduce sports sponsorship and invest more funds in building the brand's image. In 2018, a TV commercial for the Teka brand was broadcast for the first time.
