The Gymnastics and Fencing Club (TFC) 1884 Steinheim is a sports club in what is now the Steinheim am Main district of the city of Hanau . The table tennis department, which was a founding member of the 2nd table tennis league , became famous .
history
In the late 19th century, gymnastics enthusiasts formed a loose group in what was then Klein-Steinheim , which became the gymnastics and fencing club in 1884.
After the Second World War, the club was forcibly dissolved due to the prohibition of fencing clubs, it was re-established in 1951, and the club hall on Karlstrasse was built in 1954. The fencing department had to be closed only a few years later, so that the club no longer offers fencing despite its name.
The table tennis department became famous when it became a founding member of the 2nd table tennis league in the 1988/89 season. However, the sporting achievements could not be sustained and so one quickly rose again to the district league. The table tennis team currently plays in the Association League Middle.
