TIPP10 is a freelance typing trainer developed by Tom Thielicke IT Solutions . TIPP10 was published in the summer of 2006 free of charge and under the terms of the GNU GPL . Since then, the software has been downloaded over 2 million times. TIPP10 stands out from other typing trainers primarily because of its intelligent dictation - characters that are often typed incorrectly are immediately dictated more often. In addition to the software version, there has also been an online version since July 2012, which can be used for training directly in the browser and which includes all the functions of the download version.

Functions

Smart practice lessons

The texts of the tutorials react to typing errors by the user: Frequently incorrectly typed letters are queried more often than correctly typed characters. Characters that are frequently used in linguistic usage are queried earlier and more frequently than characters that are rarely used. In addition, it is possible to train your own texts or free texts on certain topics.

Free lessons

The free lessons are based on a specific topic, such as: B. Chinese New Year, The European Union, the Tower of Babel and the 20 most common words.

Scrolling text and virtual help keyboard

Colored keys and tactile paths on a virtual keyboard support the user in using the fingers correctly. A treadmill enables a continuous flow of writing. In addition, the fingers to be used are named in a status bar and information about the number of errors and writing speed is displayed.

Own lessons

In your own lessons you can type a sentence dictation or a word dictation.

Learning statistics

TIPP10 records the training data in learning statistics. After each writing session, a report is issued that evaluates the completed lesson. In addition to the course of the lesson, the program also shows the error rates per finger and per character in a diagram.

Technical details

The software version of TIPP10 was written in C ++ and with the help of the Qt class library . TIPP10 is available as a download for Microsoft Windows , Linux , Mac OS X and as a portable Windows version. The online version was implemented with JavaScript and can be used across platforms. It does not require any additional plugins, such as Adobe Flash Player . The data is transmitted with SSL encryption .
