history

April 18, 2011 Philips announced that the loss-making TV division to spin . This was to be implemented through the sale of 70% of the shares in TPV Technology , which is headquartered in Hong Kong . On November 2, 2011, the split of the television division was completely resolved, which is to be brought into a joint venture with TPV Technology. On 2 April 2012, the joint venture took shape under the name TP Vision's business operations on.

On January 20, 2014, Philips announced that it would sell the remaining 30 percent of the joint venture to partner TPV. TPV retains the rights to use the Philips brand for televisions and, according to Philips boss Frans van Houten, has to pay Philips 2.2 percent of annual TV sales as a license fee, but at least 40 million euros.

In March 2014, a new development center with 250 employees was opened in Ghent (Belgium) after the sites in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Bruges (Belgium) had previously been closed.

In January 2019, TP Vision announced that it would again produce consumer electronics (in addition to TVs) under the name Philips.
