TRM 4000

The TRM 4000 is a French light truck (4 × 4) made by Renault Trucks . It is primarily intended for the transport of military loads.

description

When production started in Blainville-sur-Orne , France, in 1973 , it was assumed that the TRM 4000 would become the standard truck in its class. A total of 15,000 vehicles were supposed to be made, but production was cut off about halfway through the 1980s. The TRM 4000 was only exported in small numbers to unnamed North African countries.

The TRM 4000 was essentially the military version of the civilian Saviem SM8 truck from the then French commercial vehicle manufacturer Saviem . The military version is similar to the civil version in many ways, so components such as the gearbox , the chassis , or the axles are used in both versions. The conventional design is determined by the two-door Saviem / Renault Type 812 driver's cab. The normal version is a flatbed truck ; the TRM 4000 is also used in other versions by the French armed forces.
