TS-L633 slimline DVD burner from Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology

The joint venture TSST ( Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corporation ) was founded in 2004. Toshiba holds 51 percent, Samsung the remaining 49 percent. TSST has its headquarters in Kawasaki (Kanagawa) , Japan and Suwon , Korea and bundles the planning, development, procurement and sales of the partners.

In August 2004 the first DVD- ROM drive was brought onto the market. Since then, the joint venture has acted as a supplier of CD and DVD drives and burners. So far, the TSST product line has been designed more towards Toshiba's corporate strategy. For example, in September 2007, a slim HD DVD drive for notebooks was brought onto the market. In mid-April 2016, the production of optical drives was stopped . The reasons for this were the advent of streaming and increasing sales of notebooks without an optical drive.
