The TSV Eintracht 1863 Felsberg is a sports club in the city Felsberg in northern Hesse Schwalm-Eder-Kreis .

The Union

In 1863, Eintracht was founded as a gymnastics club. The exact date of foundation has not been passed down, it was probably March 11th. The founding fathers, who, in the spirit of gymnastics father Jahn, committed themselves to physical fitness with mental strengthening, chose the name Eintracht.

The association currently has 810 members and offers the possibility of active activity in 12 branches.

The chairmen

Unfortunately, the name of the first chairman who was elected at the time of foundation has not been passed down. In the 1870s, the public prosecutor Scheffer is said to have led the association. In the first minutes, city treasurer Schaumburg is named as chairman. He was at the head of Eintracht until October 29, 1910, followed by City Secretary Löber. Then master carpenter Ludwig Schmidt took over the office, who in 1922 handed it over to the gymnastics brother main teacher Richard Riemann for reasons of age. It was he who introduced the yellow jerseys for handball players in 1927. From 1934 to 1938, August Wagner, who had been in office until then, was the first chairman.

During the war years, club life almost came to a standstill. But already on November 22, 1945, six months after the end of the war, Felsberger Eintrachtler met at the Gasthaus zum Schwan for a meeting to re-launch the association. Karl Fülling was unanimously elected 1st chairman. Since the name Eintracht could no longer be used according to the regulations of the Allies, the name Sportclub Felsberg was temporarily chosen. In 1948 the old name "Turn und Sportverein Eintracht 1863" Felsberg was adopted again.

After a year of development work, Fülling passed his chairmanship to Jean Meyfarth. After he had managed the association's business from 1947 to 1948, Georg Richter took over the chairmanship. In 1951 Heinz Roepke took over the management of the association until 1965 and after an interim solution with Hans Wagner, again from 1967 to 1974. After that, Willi Wissing's 15-year chairmanship began. Meinhard Clobes was only in office for two years, but led the handball players into the successful merger with neighbor TSV Jahn Gensungen. Rainer Lindenberg from 1991 to 2002 and then Dietrich Bürger until 2007 managed to adapt Eintracht to the changed social structures and to promote popular sport with ever new ideas. After a difficult phase without the first chairman, the management bodies were rejuvenated in 2010. Since then, Stefan Schmid has been acting 1st Chairman.

Handball

At the end of 1921, the cornerstone of handball in the region was laid in North Hesse. In November handball was played for the first time in Felsberg, as training for the first competition. There was a narrow 0: 1 defeat against an already well-rehearsed team from the Kassel apprentice home.

As a champion of the German gymnastics district Oberweser, Felsberg took part in the games for the Central German championship in 1927.

It was not until the 1960s that there were notable successes again. In the autumn of 1964, the A-youth became vice-Nordhessenmeister and produced some talents that would later form a good mix with the traditional team. After the two unsuccessful attempts in 1957 and 1961, the longed-for goal was finally achieved in 1966. Felsberg was regional handball champion and promoted to the association league. In 1968 the Felsberg field handball team was at the zenith of its success. At the end of the series was the championship of the Verbandsliga Nord, combined with the promotion to the Handball Oberliga Süd-West, the second highest German division. Just in time for the 110th anniversary of Eintracht, in 1973, as the last highlight in field handball, another championship was won. As the season winner of the Association League North, however, you missed the league in the promotion games against TSV Griedel and VfR Wiesbaden.

The relegation from the league in 1970 is a negative turning point. In 1974 last year's champion was relegated from the association league to the district class and two years later in 1976 it went down to the district league. In 1978, for the first time, no senior large field team was reported. Only ten years after the greatest success, this meant the end of the traditional field handball in Felsberg.

In order to place handball on a broader regional basis, Eintracht has been cooperating in the senior sector with the neighbor TSV Jahn Gensungen as HSG Gensungen / Felsberg and in youth work with TSV Eintracht Böddiger, Eintracht Brunslar, SV Melgershausen and Jahn Gensungen as JSG Dreiburgstadt Felsberg.

Table tennis

In the 1950s, the table tennis division appeared for the first time in the minutes of TSV Eintracht, but the division dissolved again after a relatively short time. In 1963 a new attempt was started. Through continuous training the decision matured to want to compete with athletes from other clubs and a team in the men's area was reported for the first time. Over the years, the number of table tennis enthusiasts and teams in the gym of the center school increased. Due to the improved training opportunities, the level of the players, especially the first team, rose so much that they were promoted to the group league in the 1973/74 season. One could rightly speak of competitive sport. For many years, until 1985, Franz Weber was in charge of the division. During this time the number of members, the number of teams and the skill level grew.

The long-term efforts of youth warden Rudi Kuhn have now also shown their effect in the men's area. So one rose within a few years from the district league to the second association league and then in 1994 to the first association league. This was followed, as the first highlight, even promotion to the Hessen League. From 1997 onwards, with the change of division management to Gerhard Jericho, greater professionalism and, associated with it, a further increase in performance. In 2000 he was promoted to the Regionalliga and in 2004 to the 2nd Bundesliga. The outstanding player at this time was the long-time men's national team coach and ex-national player Richard Prause .

Currently the 1st team plays in the Hessenliga and the 2nd set in the regional league.

At the German table tennis championships 2017 in the performance classes in Nittenau (Upper Palatinate), Andy Zimmermann won the German championship title in the A class doubles.
