Tanja Paar (born October 15, 1970 in Graz ) is an Austrian journalist and writer .

Life

Tanja Paar grew up in Graz, where she also completed her school education. In 1989 she began studying German , history and philosophy at the Karl Franzens University in Graz , and from the same year she worked as a freelancer for the daily newspaper Neue Zeit . In 1993 she moved to the University of Vienna and began her freelance work in the cultural department of the Viennese city newspaper Falter . After a year abroad in Switzerland at the Université de Lausanne , she completed her diploma studies.

In 1998/99 she completed the "Editorial Course for Magazine Journalism" at the news magazine Profil . In the same year she switched to the daily newspaper Der Standard , where she worked as an editor until 2013. She has been working as a freelance writer and writer since 2014. Her debut novel Die Unversehrten was released in February 2018 , and it was included on the ORF best list in April and May 2018 . The book was reviewed in numerous media in Austria and Germany.

Tanja Paar is a member of the Graz authors' assembly .

  • 2011: Journalist of the Year : Special prize together with Mirjam Harmtodt for the print / online collaboration
  • 2015: Media lioness: together with Beate Hausbichler for the series Große Töchter
  • 2016: Working grant from the BKA Art and Culture and achensee.literatour grant for the novel Die Unversehrten
