TTG Studios

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TTG Studios was a recording studio in Los Angeles , which was founded by Ami Hadani and Tom Hidley.

Studio

TTG is the abbreviation for two terrible guys ("two terrible guys"). The studio was founded in 1965 at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood , Los Angeles . The TTG was one of the few studios of its time set up to record music at very high volume. As a result, the studio became popular among aspiring rock musicians of the time, including The Monkees , Eric Burdon , and Alice Cooper . Jimi Hendrix was introduced to the studio by Burdon and raved about the sound of the studio.

Tom Hidley

One of the founders of the studio was Tom Hidley. He was born on May 27, 1931 in Los Angeles . In his youth he spent a lot of time playing the saxophone, clarinet and flute. After a breakdown, he received a doctor's order to stop gambling. He then turned to aspects of music that were not related to playing instruments. He spent the nights filming in clubs. During the day he worked for loudspeaker and tape companies.

In 1959, the sports car maker Earl “Madman” employed Muntz Hidley to help him develop the first stereo car radio . One of the first owners of a Muntz stereo car radio was the singer and actor Frank Sinatra . Upon Sinatra's purchase, Hidley was introduced to Sinatra's business partner Val Valentin, who invited him to help set up a new recording studio in New York. In 1962 they built the MGM / Verve studio. In 1964 Phil hired Ramone Hidley to work in his A&R studio as audio technical manager (Audio Technical Director). During this time, Ami Hadani also worked at A&R.

Ami Hadani

Little is known about Ami Hadani, also known as Omi Hadan, the second founder of TTG. Sound engineer Bruce Botnick claims that Hadani was a general in the Israeli Air Force and was absent for weeks when Israel was involved in armed conflict.
